On the last day of February 2023, it is snowy outside but I'm thinking about the birds and the bees and how to best encourage pollinators onto my property as I prepare for springtime. To that end, I'm posting a quick note about a free, upcoming online event sponsored by Vermont Land Trust. On Sunday, March 12th, from 7-8 pm on Zoom, Doug Tallamy will talk about how all of us together can create a "Homegrown National Park." As we all know, there has been a dramatic decline in the number of birds and bees world-wide recently--learn how you can do your part to help ameliorate the crisis. More details and a registration link are at: https://vlt.org/events/natures-best-hope-with-doug-tallamy/
If the link isn't visible, go to the Vermont Land Trust web site and click on Events at the top of the page.
Also check out another great, local resource for learning about pollinators, The Pollinator Pathway of Addison County at https://www.pollinator-pathway.org/towns/addison-county
(and take a look at the Passion for Pollinators forum on this blog)
I've seen Doug Tallamay speak - he is informative and inspiring! The concept of the "Homegrown National Park" is one we can all contribute to with minimal effort. I encourage everyone to take a listen and get inspired!
